They have become increasingly aware that they needed a website to support this. It was important for them that people could identify the brands that they serviced, the region that they serviced, and the phone number. People simply no longer use the phone book.
Of course there is more to the site than that. Using a map as the background means that those who are in the service area will recognise the area and know that they are local. Using the background as a visual clue to corroborate visually what the words say.
